Our vineyard...

Vue du terroir de Banyuls et Collioure

The area of the protected designation of origin Banyuls Collioure is located down south of France nearby the Spanish border, where the Pyrénées mountains end up into the Mediterranean Sea, offering a unique and superb landscape. Our vineyard is spread over four villages of the so called Côte Vermeille: Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère.

Shaped since always by hands and daily work of our wine growers this truly unique landscape, made of hills and terraces is stake out of 6.000 Km of small walls build with stones, and a watering network called «Agulles» to fight and control the erosion.

Some plots are not served by roads, thus transportation is being done by donkeys or on the back of men, which provides a picturesque touch. At the heart of this superb vineyard, the cellar of l’Etoile owns 150 hectares wich allows the production of AOC Banyuls, Banyuls Grand cru and Collioure. On a soil made of shale, poor and abrupt, regularly sweeped by the Tramontane wind , our wines and the exclusively manual work of our wine growers can be summarized in three words: pride, love and determination.
